It is with great sorrow the family of Joan Marie Kukosky announces her passing on Nov. 19, 2024, at the age of 86 years.
She will lovingly be missed and remembered by her siblings: Mary Koval, Patricia Suprum, Dorothy McDaniels, William McDaniels, Thomas McDaniels, Daniel McDaniels and Leroy McDaniels; husband, Anthony Kukosky; daughter, Diane Velikis; grandchildren: David Quare, Kim Tripp, Kristina Quare, Toni Zalenski, Jody Stash, Josh Kukosky and Sharon Kukosky; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and goddaughter, Donna Martin.
She was predeceased by her sister, Cora Long; daughters: Joan Kukosky and Sharon Kukosky; and great-great-granddaughter, Delaney Jo Cummings.
She was born to Cora and Leroy McDaniels, raised in Larksville, attended Larksville High School and married her high school sweetheart. Soon she became a devoted military wife and mother.
Joan held various jobs, but her proudest was with IBM in New Jersey, moving on to nursing in Vermont, and a skilled seamstress in Luzerne County. Upon military retirement, she moved to Pringle, where she lived out her days.
She loved family get-togethers, making piggies and, you guessed it, construction projects. Her quirkiness and wry sense of humor brought smiles to family and friends.
A private funeral service was held on Monday, Nov. 25 from Strish Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation.
