John “Tucker” Antolik Jr., 56, of Tilbury Terrace, West Nanticoke, passed away peacefully Saturday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born April 18, 1951 in Nanticoke, she was a son of the late Eleanor Jablonski and Joseph Antolik Sr. of Glen Lyon. He graduated from Newport High School, class of 1969, and earned an associate’s degree from Luzerne County Community College.
He served his country at home during the Vietnam War from 1970-1977 as part of the Army’s 3rd Armored Calvary Division stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and was honorably discharged.
He was a lifetime member of the DAV and member of the American Legion Post 971, Wanamie, in addition to the Italian-American Sporting Club of Glen Lyon and the Nanticoke Conservation Club. He was also a member of the Holy Trinity Church, Nanticoke.
Prior to his retirement in 2003, he worked at Reilly Plating Co. for more than 23 years and at Medico Industries Inc. as a director of purchasing and the plant manager.
Joseph was a beloved husband of 32 years and a devoted and caring father of two, whom he enjoyed participating with in numerous outdoor activities, especially hunting, ice fishing, clamming, gardening, and enjoying the Delaware shore.
His greatest pleasure was spending time with his wife, Charlotte; sons Joel and Jarrod; and his faithful black lab, Raven.
His sense of humor will be forever remembered.
Also grieving are his godfather, Thomas Antolik Jr., of Huntington Mills; mother-in-law Helen Zablocki, of Wanamie; sister-in-law Gloria and her husband, Gary Evans, of Nanticoke; nephews Eric and Cael Evans (Godson).
Others surviving are his aunt, Edna, and her daughter, Jane Nekuinas, of Hartford, Conn.; cousins Dave Zupko, of Nanticoke, Karen Gryziec, of Colo., Lois Hetro, of Ariz.; Carol Donlin, of Dallas; Janet Zoranski, of Dorrance, and Jim Burn, of Md.; in addition to numerous caring and thoughtful friends.
A very warm and heartfelt thanks to the Oncology WBHG nurses and doctors who took care of our husband and father. We will be forever grateful to all of you.
The American Legion , Post 971, will conduct military services Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Stanley S. Stegura Funeral Home Inc., 614 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, Nanticoke.
Interment will be in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery, Glen Lyon. Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
