MOUNTAIN TOP — John E. Chmiola Sr., 78, of Mountain Top, died Tuesday, April 10, 2018, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late John J. and Stella Sproch Chmiola and was employed as a welder. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 44 and St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre. He had a love for classic cars and enjoyed watching sports.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded by sister Clara McCoy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy A. Beline Chmiola; children, John E. Chmiola Jr., of Swoyersville; Diane Chmiola, of Edwardsville; James Chmiola, of Plains; Joanne Chmiola, of Plains; Sandra Troyan, of Wilkes-Barre; Karen Chmiola, of Plains; David Chmiola, of Plains; Daniel Chmiola, of Mountain Top; Jacklyn Chmiola, of Mountain Top; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Evans, of S.C., and Jean Chmiola, of Wilkes-Barre, nieces and nephews.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2018, in St. Nicholas Church, 226 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre.
