PLYMOUTH TWP. — John E. Leiby II, 72, of West Nanticoke, Plymouth Township, passed away Dec. 10, 2024, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, after an illness, surrounded by his family.
Born in Sweet Valley on July 2, 1952, he was the son of the late John and Margaret Williams Leiby. John married his childhood sweetheart, Jane Wright, on Nov. 14, 1970. John was employed by Deluxe Homes, Berwick, for 40 years, retiring in 2012. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandkids.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his four children: John Leiby and his wife, Wendy; Larry Leiby; Melissa Leiby and fiancé, William Wren; and Holly Fassett and husband, David; five grandchildren: Jake Leiby and fiancée, Brittany; Alexis Fassett; Emily Wren; David Fassett Jr.; and Barrett Fassett; three great-grandchildren: Peylynn, Jacey and Brayden; sisters: Jane Evans, Lillian Kizis, Janet Brown, Carol Gross and Holly Wickard; brother, George Mitchell; nephew, Rodney Wright; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home Inc., 14 W. Green St., Nanticoke. Interment will be in Edge Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.

My Deepest Sympathy to Jane Leiby and her family on the loss of her husband John. I was in High School in Nanticoke with both Jane and her twin sister Jean who passed away a few years ago. We were in the same class.
