EXETER — Joseph P. Backo, of Exeter, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, the former Lorraine Kolojejchick; children, Daniel Backo, Catherine White and Peg Schwartz; three grandchildren; brother, Michael Backo, Wallington, N.J.
Funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Lehman-Gregory Funeral Home Inc., 281 Chapel St., Swoyersville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, Exeter. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Exeter. Family and friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations can be made to the Exeter Scout Home and Community Center, 1030 Exeter Ave., Exeter, PA 18643; or the American Diabetes Association.

Mr.Joseph Backo was a wonderful person. He was a very caring, a very good example in his community. He was a great Scout Leader. He always had a great sense of humor and he made everyone laugh. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones. At this time, I want to extend my condolences to the family of Joseph Backo. May God grant you his blessings today and everyday.

Will always remember Breakfast with the Easter Bunny for the Saint Cecilia's Youth Group in Exeter. Joe had everyone in stitches in the kitchen as we made the pancakes, sausage and eggs. Joe will be missed. Thoughts and Prayers.
