PLAINS TOWNSHIP — Joseph J. Biniek Sr., 81, of Plains Township, died Sunday Nov. 12, 2017, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Andrew and Helen (Moses) Biniek. Joe was a truck mechanic, starting his career at International Harvester, moving to Thomas C. Thomas, and retiring from the Wilkes-Barre Truck Center. He was also a life member of the Nuangola Rod and Gun Club, and an avid trapshooter.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Margaret Kelly Biniek, as well as brothers Andrew and William.
Joe is survived by his son Joseph Jr. and his wife, Lauralee, Courtdale, daughters Joann Noll and husband, Ronald Panuski, and Janine Valkos and husband, Joseph, both of Pittston Township, and Judy Serino and husband, Joseph, of Wyoming. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brianna and Alexander Noll, Andrew and Cassandra Serino, Adam Valkos, Tyler Biniek, and Samantha and Michael Panuski, as well as great-grandson Jayce Miller, and by his brothers Edward Biniek Sr., of Plains Township, and Thomas Biniek Sr., of Plymouth.
Funeral services will be held Thursday Nov. 16, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saints Peter and Paul Church, Plains. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 15, at the Anthony Recupero Funeral Home, 406 Susquehanna Ave. West Pittston.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saints Peter and Paul food pantry.
