Joseph Stubbs Obituary
JOSEPH E. STUBBS
He was born June 3, 1928, in Victoria, to the late Edmund L. and Lillian Seiler Stubbs. He was at technical engineer for Union Carbide.
Mr. Stubbs was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. He taught Sunday school for many years and served as Sunday School Superintendent and Luther League sponsor. He was a church council member several times. He helped organize Boy Scout Troop 113 sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Church.
He was named Victoria County Outstanding 4-H Leader and was a superintendent for the Victoria Jaycee Livestock Show. He was also proud to be a "100 Gallon" blood donor.
Joe and his wife, Barbara, were members of several dance clubs and the Polka Lovers Klub of America. They led a dance group that entertained nursing and retirement homes and taught polka dancing to many school children.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Kalich Stubbs; daughters, Brenda (Marcus) Chaloupka of College Station and Cheri (David) Green of Del Rio; son, Michael (Vicki) Stubbs of Austin; sisters, Lillian Reid of Cuero and Sophie Rainville of San Antonio; brothers, Melvin and Aubrey Stubbs of Victoria, and David Stubbs of Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Michele and Lanicia Chaloupka, Megan Stubbs, Sara Allen, Blair, Jake, and Jessi Green; and two great-grandchildren, Aynsley and Parker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edmund Stubbs.
Family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007 at Grace Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Barney Matocha officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Blair Green, Jake Green, Caleb Allen, John Swetlick, Russell Daigle, Doug Kruppa, Donald Kruppa, and Tommie Matchett Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers are his granddaughters.
Family requests memorials be made to Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum, Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation or Trinity Lutheran Church.

My name was Bonnie Jean Cunningham when I met Joe for the first time. His mother and my mother had attended school together in Victoria. The Stubbs Family was a happy group of people. Eddie Boy and Aubrey seemed to inherit their father's jovial nature.Sophie Mae and Lillian were sweet and friendly like their mother. God Bless each of you and especially Joe's wife and children and grandchildren.
