Josephine Tavana Obituary

Josephine C. Tavana, 87, of First Street, Exeter, was called home by the Lord, Sunday morning, September 9, 2007.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Dipetro Brandolino. She was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, class of 1938.
Mrs. Tavana was employed by Swift & Co., Nelson Brothers of Wyoming, Graham Bedding of Wilkes-Barre and, prior to her retirement, Nelson Furniture of Kingston, where she was supervisor, sample sewer and instructor.
Josephine was a member of St. Cecilia’s Church of Exeter and the Christian Mothers.
Mrs. Tavana was one of the original founders of the Exeter Taxpayers Association, where she also served as vice president.
Mrs. Tavana was a former member of the Senior Citizens of Kingston.
She and her husband, Dominic, were members of the Antique Auto Club of Wilkes-Barre and the Teamsters Union of Wilkes-Barre and Scranton.
Mrs. Tavana was also a member of the Good Sam Campers Club.
She was preceded in death by brothers Victor, Anthony and Alphanso Brandolino.
She is survived by her husband, Dominic, with whom she would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on Oct. 26; daughter Theresa Ann Stuka and her husband, Dr. Andrew J. Stuka, of Exeter; grandsons Andrew D., Michael D. and Matthew J. Stuka; nieces and nephews.
Josie will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Metcalfe & Shaver Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. A Mass of Christian Burial follows at noon in St. Cecilia’s Church, Exeter. Private interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
