Leona Roberts

Leona E. Roberts, 89, of Lincoln Ave., Nanticoke, passed away Friday at the Hospice Community Care Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Jackson Twp. on Jan. 5, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Emma (Splitentosser) Linsinbigler. She graduated from Harter High School, West Nanticoke. Mrs. Roberts had been employed at the General Cigar Mill, Nanticoke and Kingston, and Ellis’s Restaurant, Nanticoke. She was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hanover Twp.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin K. Roberts, in 1965; sisters Ruth Scally, Irene Reakes, Alberta Sparr, Emily Donner and Agnes Ebmier; brothers Daniel and Lewis; niece Molly Scally; nephew Michael Scally.
Surviving are daughter Carol Hynoski Yeager and husband Mark Yeager, Nanticoke, with whom she resided; son Darwin D. Roberts, Arlington, VA; granddaughter Amy Patton; great-grandsons Tyler Kozlofski and Nicholas Patton; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today at 10:15 a.m. from the Stanley S. Stegura Funeral Home Inc., 614 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke, with religious services at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Middle Road, Hanover Twp., with the Rev. Gerald Grimm officiating.
Interment will be private to the family.
