Mary Kasenchak Obituary

M ary C. Kasenchak, formerly of Martin St., Askam, Hanover Twp., died Friday at Little Flower Manor, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Ashley, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Lottie Masakowski Zlakowski. She was the first female school director in Hanover Twp. She was appointed to the board as her husband’s successor while he served in the United States Navy during World War II. She was a member of Holy Family Church, Sugar Notch.
She was preceded in death by husband Joseph in 1980; daughter Carol in 1969; sisters Sophie Masakowski, Jennie Pruce and Lottie Solomon; brother Zigmund Zlakowski.
Surviving is a son, Joseph P., New York City; daughter Marie K. Tormey and husband Tom, Mesa, AZ; sisters, Bertha Zlakowski and Caroline Potsko, both of Ashley; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Frederick and Snowdon Funeral Home, Inc., 617 Carey Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Sugar Notch. Internment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Condolences can be sent to [email protected] .
