Michael Crush Obituary

March 14, 2004
Michael J. Crush, 64, of Worcester Township, died Sunday morning in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. He was the husband of Mary Lou (Kendall) Crush. The couple celebrated 37 years of marriage last month.
Born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Michael and Alvina (Gillis) Crush. He served in the U.S. National Guard during the Vietnam War. Mr. Crush lived in Bucks County from the mid 1960s to 1971, when he returned to Wilkes-Barre until 1984. At that time he moved back to Montgomery County. Until his illness, he worked as a structural designer for the architect firm of Kling Co., Philadelphia. He was previously employed by the Vitetta Group, now in Philadelphia, and the Cagley and Harmon Co., Upper Merion. During the 1970s, he worked on the pit crew with the Indy Race Team, Hopkins Racing, whose drivers were Roger McClosky and Johnny Parsons Jr. In 1988, he was the project manager for Jimmy Carter's Habitat for Humanity Work Camp, Philadelphia. Mr. Crush was a member of the Church of the Messiah, Gwynedd. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and he ``loved the Yankees.'
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Melissa Crush Richwagen, Worchester Township, and Susan Crush, RN, of Berryville, Va.
Relatives and friends are invited to his memorial service at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Church of the Messiah, DeKalb Pike (south of Sumneytown Pike), Gwynedd. The family will greet friends following the service. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 2 International Plaza, suite 245, Philadelphia, PA 19113.
Longenecker Funeral Home, North Wales, is entrusted with the arrangements.
