Michael Menapace Obituary
Michael Garn Menapace died from complications of a brain lesion Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pa. He was born April 9, 1952, in Fairmount, N.Y., and graduated from Alfred University in 1971. For many years, he lived and worked in Ithaca, N.Y. In 1991 he moved to Falls. Garn turned and carved elegant wood sculptures and bowls out of beautiful woods. At home, he also created gardens, garden sculptures, bonsai trees, and fishponds. In 1996, he began work as a caregiver for adolescent boys at St. Michael's School (now E-hab), a residential treatment center in Tunkhannock. Garn was wonderful with the boys, teaching them to draw, cook, and garden. Garn leaves his beloved wife Laurie Albro, in Falls, her extended family, and many friends. A memorial service will be held at the West Falls Baptist Church, 204 Church St., Falls, at 1 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, please give to an environmental or nature group that involves children. Laurie, I have so many cherished memories of the time that I worked with Garn. He truely was a special man. May the love you shared and your memories comfort you in this time of loss. Prayers go out to you and your family.

Dearest Laurie,
We are so deeply saddened to learn of Garn's passing. He was loved by all who had the pleasure to know him. One is not truly gone, so long as he is remembered. Garn will surely be remembered for all the joy he brought to so many of our lives. Sending you much love and prayer from all of us.
