Michael J. White, 47, of Nanticoke, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, at his home.
Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of the late George White and the late Christine Hallenbeck.
He attended high school in Mesa, Ariz., after which he relocated to Mocanaqua. Michael entered the Air Force in 1998, serving in Rhein-Mein, Germany for the duration of his service to his country. Michael received an honorable discharge after getting injured. He graduated from College Misericordia, Dallas, with a BSW in 2005. He worked as an addictions counselor in the Wyoming Valley before becoming permanently disabled.
Michael was a dedicated husband and father, who was beloved by his friends, family and community. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family and his country, and as Michael always said, "In that order."
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Gina Marie Hallenbeck; his grandmother, Virginia Hallenbeck; and his cousin, Kimberly Hallenbeck.
Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Laurel Berecky-White; children, Caleb Anthony White, 16; and Zeke-Elijah White, 13; aunt, Justine Hallenbeck and uncle, Tony Cresci; aunt, Julianna Hallenbeck; mother-in-law, Ellen Marie Robinson; sister-in-law, Heather E. Furedi; and brother-in-law, Mark Furedi; nephew, Tyler M. Furedi; and niece, Scarlett H. Furedi.
A celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 24, in Living Word Baptist Church in Sweet Valley, Pa. Reception of guests will begin at 4 p.m., followed by a memorial and worship service.
The family is grateful for your support at this unexpected time and asks that in place of floral tributes, you consider a memorial donation to assist with funeral and memorial expenses.
