Paula A. (Scotti) Appel, of Taylor, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025, with her family by her side. Paula lived her life with grace, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to caring for others.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Vito and Antoinette Locke Scotti and was a 1982 graduate of Scranton Central High School. Paula received her nursing degree from the University of Scranton and her Bachelor of Science from Drexel University. Throughout her professional career, she worked for Mercy Hospital, Allied Skilled Nursing, John Heinz Rehabilitation Center, Highland Manor, Riverside Skilled Nursing, and most recently, Oak Ridge Nursing Center.
A woman of great spirit and resilience, Paula touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her nurturing nature extended far beyond her profession, embracing family and friends with warmth and joy. A devout Christian, she was a member of Peckville Assembly of God Church. Paula enjoyed crocheting, gardening and fishing, always hoping for the big catch.
Paula is survived by her loving husband, Thomas; and her adored children: Dorseylane and Eric; and her loving stepson, Donald. She will also be deeply missed by her brothers: Thomas, Hugh, Paul, Giuseppe, Mario, Giovanni, Dino, Gino, Julio, Rico and Tim Scotti; and her sisters: Tina and Sandra Scotti. She held a very special bond with her aunt, Dorseylane Parry; and a wide circle of family and friends who will forever cherish her memory, including her mother-in-law, Connie Appel.
Paula's family wishes to extend their most sincere gratitude to Hospice of the Sacred Heart staff for the best quality of life they gave Paula during her final years.
