Richard DeSanto Obituary

Richard (Ricky) DeSanto, 67, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sept. 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer for several months.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph DeSanto and Mary Rose Vazquez DeSanto.

Ricky was a great career chef, decorator, host; his talents were unlimited, so was his kindness and generosity. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his husband, David Schaar; stepmother, Bette DeSanto; sister, Deborah, spouse Raymond Godek, and daughters (nieces) Lauren, spouse John Kenzie, son J.C. Llywelyn, Ashley, spouse Jose Castillo, daughters Eliana and Nadia; sister, Denice DeSanto, goddaughter and niece Michelle Perry and husband Joseph Gates, nephew Patrick Perry and wife Alla Perry, great-niece Mila Perry and great-nephew Luka Perry, niece Kataryna DeSanto and nephew Marcus Pacheco, great-nieces Marlei and Margo Pacheco; sister, Sandra DeSanto Langan, and fiancé Frank J. Martino Jr., niece and goddaughter Lexie Langan, nephew Jerry Langan and wife Macy, great-nieces and nephews, Hazel Faye, Hammond and Covington Maclynne Langanz; sister, Lisa Toscano, and partner Kenneth Garber, and niece Alyssa Garber and Nephew Ryan Toscano, great-niece Luna Toscano and uncle Michael Vazquez and aunt Peggy Vazques. Also his beloved dogs, Bailey and Pugsley.

Family and friends will celebrate his life at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at his home. There will be a potluck supper.
