WILKES-BARRE — Robert Joseph Coniglio, 50, a resident of Centreville, Virginia, passed into eternal life unexpectedly due to heart failure on Monday afternoon, July 2, 2018, at his home.
Born July 9, 1967, in Wilkes-Barre, Robert was the beloved son of Joan (Romanoski) Coniglio, of Swoyersville, and the late William R. Coniglio, who passed away May 29, 2016.
Raised in Swoyersville, Bob was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, Plymouth, Class of 1985. He went on to further his education at College Misericordia, now Misericordia University, where in 1989 he acquired his bachelor's degree in management information systems. He went on to acquire his MBA from George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
For the past 25 years, Bob was employed in the Information Technology Division of General Dynamics, Centreville, Virginia, currently holding the position of Senior I.T. Manager, involved with information technology solutions for national-level assets. In his earlier years, he was employed by Pierce Drugs, Kingston.
Although Bob resided in Virginia for many years, he maintained his church membership at the former St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of his church, he became a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
Bob always had an adventurous spirit and a passion for traveling, wind surfing, scuba diving, voyaging the sea on his sailing yacht and, being that he held a pilot's license, flying a plane every chance he could. He also enjoyed playing the guitar in his younger days.
Exceptionally knowledgeable and mechanically inclined, Bob was always up to date on the latest gadgets and was known to be able to repair just about anything.
A friendly, caring and thoughtful man, Bob never wanted to have an enemy and he was known to lend a helping hand to anyone in need without ever asking for anything in return. He regarded his family as the greatest gift in life and he cherished every moment he had with his loved ones. Although his presence will be deeply missed, he will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
In addition to his father, William R. Coniglio, Bob was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Edna Romanoski; his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Wanda Coniglio; and his brother-in-law, Gregory Kirk.
In addition to his mother, Joan Coniglio, Bob is survived by his brother, William Coniglio Jr., of Swoyersville; his sisters, Corine Coniglio, of Swoyersville, and Jill Coniglio-Kirk, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; and his three nephews, Spencer Kirk, Ryan Kirk and Seth Fedorco; as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and fellow colleagues.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on his 51st birthday, at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2018, from the Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, his pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Family and friends are invited to call 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2018, at the funeral home.
For additional information or to send the Coniglio family an online message of condolence, you may visit the funeral home's website: www.wroblewskifuneralhome.com, or Facebook page.

We were deeply saddened to learn of Bob's passing. We met Bob on L Dock where we shared a finger pier for our boat slips. Bob was always helpful in providing local knowledge and the lay of the waterways to us as we were from out of state. During the 2003 hurricane, we assisted each other in securing our boats and then we took refuge together to wait out the storm. In the years following, we had many good times and adventures on the Chesapeake Bay alongside Bob. Our hearts go out to Bob's family. Please know that when we think of Bob, we will always smile recalling a good friend and a great guy.

The L dock crew will surely miss Bob. We spent many a year Navigating the Chesapeake with "Sailboat" Bob. There were many misadventures over the years culminating in the FLARE incident at Swan Creek... one that will live forever in our memories!

I am very saddened to hear that Bob succumbed. He was a coworker of mine, and he was with me when I was suffering my own heart attack overseas 2 years ago. He was a blessing, an angel of peace, and great support during my greatest time of need; reaching out to my family, helping me get airlines ticket back to my work site and so much more. This was way beyond the call of any duty. I know that he suffered in his feet (plantar's fasciatis) and I always looked to do as much for him as he did for me, to make things better for him. He was a friend to me and it hurts to think of losing him.
Congilio Family, et. al. please accept my condolences and my prayers go out to you all.

Dearest Jill,
My thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time. I know he was your great brother even though I never met him. I know so through knowing you. He is in heaven with your father and Greg.
