Robert Evans, 88, of Bear Creek Township, was welcomed home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, in his home with his family by his side.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on Aug. 10, 1937, he was the son of the late Michael & Margaret (Koziak) Evans.
Bob attended GAR Memorial High School in Wilkes-Barre and was an Air Force veteran. Upon his honorable discharge from active service, Bob was employed by the Department of Defense at Tobyhanna Army Depot for over 30 years until his retirement.
A man of great faith, Bob was a lifelong member of the Beaumont Free Methodist Church, Buck Township, where he also served as Pastor. Bob loved to serve and was a member of the Bear Creek Lions Club and volunteered at Meals on Wheels.
He was preceded in death by his dear wife of 53 years, the former Patsy Ann Shovlin, on March 7, 2014, and his brothers Joseph, Alec, John, Thomas, Michael, and Wassil Evans.
Surviving are his children, Cheryl Evangelista and her husband, Mitchell; Robert Evans and his wife, Linda, all of Bear Creek Twp.; and Richard Evans and his wife, Donna, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Fatz, Edwardsville; and Margaret Smith, Duryea; as well as nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Bob will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Township, with Pastor Joe Gandia of Beaumont Free Methodist Church officiating. Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Interment will be held in Memorial Shrine Burial Park in the Carverton section of Wyoming.
In lieu of flowers, Bob's family requests memorial donations be made in Bob's memory to the Beaumont Free Methodist Church, 380 Buck Blvd., White Haven, PA 18661.
