Robert Hatcher Obituary

Robert William Hatcher, 70, of Lehman Township, passed peacefully with family and loved ones surrounding him in light and love on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in Geisinger Wyoming Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born April 7, 1955, Robert was one of two sons born to the late William E. Hatcher and Marie E. (Zaboski) Hatcher. Affectionately known as "Hatch" and "Rob" to his loved ones and friends, he graduated from the former James M. Coughlin High School in 1973.

He proudly became a master sheet metal mechanic for Local 44, Wilkes-Barre. He received the prestigious award of best ranking welder in the USA, after competing in the 1980 National Sheet Metal Competition, in Minnesota. He was known locally for his award-winning picture framing at The Art Hatchery from 1986-2000. After retiring from the sheet metal industry in 2014, Robert became a professional truck driver, receiving his CDL from Fortis Institute.

Robert had a sparkle in his eye when he smiled or told a joke, often quoting popular movie lines. He had a calming presence, and was a patient teacher. He enjoyed bonfires, viewing the stars at night, cruising on his motorcycle, and visiting Atlantic City. He had a master eye for detail and workmanship in DIY projects.

Robert resided with his fiancé, Deborah Lynch (and their dog Mabel), whom he loved immensely.

Left to cherish his memory are his fiancé, Deborah; his brother, Richard (Cathy) Hatcher, Maryland; his daughter, Sarah Hatcher McGowan (Josh Wirbicki), White Haven; his son, Kyle-Rhys W. Hatcher, Mountain Top; and their mother, Judith Lynn Keats, Bear Creek, to whom he was married for 25 years, and remained lifelong friends. Robert is also survived by Deborah's children: Jillian (Eddie) Lynch Ruger, and Jordan (Nicole) Lynch and their three children; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his lifelong best friend, Paul Zbegner, Tunkhannock.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial visitation which will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, with a celebration of life service to commence at 7 p.m.

Hatch was my favorite cousin and we spent many hours together in our younger years. I especially remember going cat fishing at night and eating hot dogs on sticks over a fire. May he rest in peace.
