Robert Strittmatter, 70, of Mountain Top, passed away on Wednesday at the Smith Health Care Center. Born in Wilkes-Barre he was the son of the late Kenneth and Mary (Daniels) Strittmatter, Sr.
Prior to retiring Robert worked at the SAPA Corporation in Mountain Top. He was an avid model train collector, was a member of the Train Collectors Association and enjoyed attending train shows as well as travelling to Ocean City, N.J. Robert was a member of the Masons and belonged to the Blue Lodge in Freeland. He was an active lifelong member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Mountain Top, serving on many of the church's boards as well as being an instructor for the confirmation classes for 25 years and the Vacation Bible School. Robert served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his baby daughter Joyce, as well as his brother Richard Strittmatter and wife Marge.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Suzanne J. (Badoud) Strittmatter, a brother Kenneth Strittmatter Jr. and wife Donna, Harveys Lake and a sister Marilyn Brogan and husband Clem, Mountain Top. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m. in the Christ United Methodist Church, Mountain Top. Interment will be on Monday at Albert Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the church and again on Monday morning from 10-11 a.m. at McCune Funeral Home, Mountain Top.
In lieu of Flowers donations may be made to either the Christ United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
