DEVON — Ruth Graham Conaghan passed away peacefully at her home in Devon on Feb. 11, 2022, surrounded by her devoted husband, Tom, and loving family. Ruth was born on May 21, 1955, in Kingston, the daughter of Stuart E. Graham and Ruth Hourigan Graham.
Ruth graduated from Wyoming Seminary in Kingston and later earned a degree from the University of Denver. During her years at Wyoming Seminary, she was asked to play on the boys' basketball team because of her extraordinary athletic abilities. Tennis was her favorite sport and she continued to play until she became ill. While always competitive, Ruth was sure to make those with less talent enjoy the game.
Throughout her life, Ruth made a lasting impression on everyone she met because of her spectacular generosity in every meaning of the word. Ruth loved people and her greatest joy was finding ways to quietly help people in any way they needed.
Ruth moved to the Philadelphia area in 1983 and started an employee benefit firm, Creative Benefits. Since that time, Creative Benefits as grown into one of the largest independent employee benefit firms in the Philadelphia area. The firm has been named among the best top 10 employers for whom to work in the metropolitan area as well as one of the top woman owned businesses. Whether you were an employee or a client, you were "family" to Ruth. She always had your best interest as her main priority. Throughout her career, and her personal life, Ruth went out of her way to ensure she was doing the right thing no matter how hard that was at times.
From her early childhood, Ruth loved the westerns, cowboys and horses and always dreamed of spending time in the west. In 1995, she made this dream a reality and built a family ranch in Westcliffe, Colo.," Snowy Peaks." She quickly became a respected and loved member of the community.
Ruth met and married the love of her life, Tom Conaghan, in 2001. Tom shared Ruth's love of the west and they built the B-B Ranch in Westcliffe for breeding and training horses. When in Westcliffe, Ruth never missed a trail ride in the mountains on her magnificent horse, Promise.
Ruth shared the beauty of Snowy Peaks with an untold number of friends all of whom were treated to a mountain ride on her well-trained herd of horses.
Ruth is survived by her husband Thomas B. Conaghan; her two brothers, Stuart Graham and his wife Kate, John Graham and his wife, Patricia; and her sister, Carolyn McLaughlin-Smith and husband, Dave. Ruth was predeceased by her sister, Christina Graham Ouellette. Ruth is also survived by two stepdaughters, Meghan Conaghan and Gillian Conaghan; nieces, Cameron Graham, Macee Keelan, Devon Hammonds; nephews, Philip Ouellette, Stuart Graham, John McLaughlin, and Nicholas Ouellette, as well as numerous great-nephews and nieces and four step granddaughters.

Our condolences. Sadly, I learned of Ruth´s passing through word of brother Stu´s recent passing. I have such fond memories of tennis with my friend Roy at Newberry and gatherings with our friends in the 70s. Ruth was a person of immense character (with an awesome forehand!) who has left us much too soon. Rest in peace my friend.

Ruth was such a dear and devoted friend to our family. Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds. She had an incredible heart for people and we were the grateful beneficiaries of the love she so willingly shared with so many. Lifting the entire Graham and Conaghan families up in prayer at this most difficult time. Ruth, Roy, Aunt Fred - whichever name you knew her by - has left a huge void here in this world but she is most assuredly lighting up heaven right now. With deepest sympathy.

To Tom, Carolyn, Macee, Stuart, Kate, Cameron, Gillian, Meghan, and all of Ruth's family, friends and colleagues, my deepest condolences on the death---too soon---of a great woman and of a great soul. Ruth befriended me as a nurse-turned-entrepreneur and encouraged me, believed in me, and entrusted me with helping her family and friends. Whenever Ruth called, I was happy to answer so I could talk with her even though it likely meant someone she loved and cared for needed help. That was who she was---taking care of everyone. Rest easy, Ruth, you've earned it. I'll miss you.

I will always remember Ruth as a savvy and sometimes stern business person. When her client's needed something, the word "no" did not exist. She was dedicated to her clients in a way that always left me in admiration. She also had a huge heart. I will always be grateful when she put her trust in a 26 year old rookie sales rep to be responsible for one her largest and most meaningful accounts after it had been with another company for many years. She knew it was risky and it could have gone bad, but believed in me and I am proud to say they are still a client today. I am not sure if I would have made it in this insurance business as long as I have if she had not given me that opportunity. I will miss you Ruth, and I am forever grateful to have known you. You are a wonderful business partner and friend, Thank you.

As a happy recipient of Ruth´s thoughtfulness and generosity, visiting her beautiful home with stunning views in Colorado in her joyful company, was one of my most fond memories ever. May her spirit live on to experience and continue such joy in eternity.

Ruth was a beautiful loving and generous person. She was like an Angel on earth to those that were blessed to know her. She will be missed. I have boarded my horse, Flicka at B Bar B Ranch for five or more years. Her employees are dutiful and have great attention to detail. They are wonderful, loving People and love all the barn animals.
Ruth will be a light in Heaven.

On behalf of Ruth's many friends from the Springton Tennis Club Early Bird Program we send our condolences to Tom , and Ruth's family and friends. Ruth was a special person both on and off the court and brought a certain warmth and friendship to the 30 plus members of the group. Ruth always had a smile on her face even at 6 AM when the group started playing and most folks are a bit grumpy. Ruth always had a smile on her face and look forward to playing with her boys. She was the only women in the group and was a fierce competitor who ended every match with a hug and a kiss. Your boys will miss you dearest Ruth but we will wear your special hat proudly and never forget the time spent with you which was all too short. May God Bless you and may you rest in eternal peace. You made us all a better person. We love you

Ruth did it the right way. She was kind, considerate and always helpful. She helped my family tremendously and had no business reason to do it. Her kindness toward my family will never be forgotten. It changed the way I look at situations now and I hope others benefit from what I have learned from Ruth. My deepest condolences to her family.
