BETHLEHEM — Scott Joseph Sarley, 38, of Bethlehem, a native of the Back Mountain, slept away in the arms of his Lord on Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, Scott is the son of Jo-Ann (Norrie) Sarley and the late William Charles Sarley. He was a poster child for the former Wyoming Valley Crippled Children's Association. Under the supervision of the Dallas School District, Scott was a graduate of Wyoming Area, Class of 1997. He was baptized in and attended Trucksville United Methodist Church.
Scott lived at home until December 2010, and since that time resided at Good Shepherd Home, Bethlehem. He was a social member of the Trucksville Vol. Fire Company since his early teens, where he especially enjoyed helping with the children's Christmas party. He enjoyed Walt Disney World, NASCAR, The Philadelphia Eagles, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, gardening, country music, and keeping up with current events. Scott donated his corneas to Sight-Life as a final gesture of love of his fellow man.
In addition to his father, Scott was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Ernest and Thelma (Bulford) Norrie; and paternal grandparents, William R. and Emma (Hutchins) Sarley.
Surviving, in addition to his loving mother, are brothers, William E. Sarley (Erica), of Martinsburg, W. Va., and Robert C. Sarley, of Kingston; nieces Rachael, Emma and Ava Sarley; and dear friend, Carmen Arruzzo.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, at Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. The Rev. Dick Williams, pastor, Trucksville UMC, will officiate. Interment will follow in Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas. Friends may call from noon until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
Scott loved his compassionate caregivers at Good Shepherd Home, Bethlehem, and his family will be forever grateful for their professional and loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trucksville Vol. Fire Co., or to Good Shepherd Home, Bethlehem
