Sophie ( Sophia) D. Juzwicki, Kingston, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, in St. Luke's Villa, Wilkes-Barre, after an illness.
Born in the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter to the late Alexander and Stella Ruszewski Juzwicki.
She was educated at Ss. Peter and Paul School, Plains Township, and was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, class of 1942. After graduation, she moved to New York City and was employed by McGraw-Hill Publishing Co. in the mail room. Sophie also worked for the U.S. Postal Service.
After retirement, Sophie resided in Florida for a short time until she returned to the Wyoming Valley. Sophie was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains Township. Sophie enjoyed traveling and taking excursions to New York City.
She is preceded in death by brothers, Peter, Joseph and John; sisters, Marion Wysocki and Eleanor Konopko.
Sophie is survived by nephew, John Wysocki, N.J.; nieces, Geraldine Tilton, N.J.; Mary Earley, N.Y.; Antoinette Clark, N.J.; numerous grand nieces and nephews; numerous great-grand nieces and nephews; and friends Karen and Frank Nallon, Kingston.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday from the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark St., Plains, at 10 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains Twp. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until time of service.
