Stanley Yedlowski Obituary

Stanley F. Yedlowski, 94. formerly of South Washington Street and North Sherman Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Thursday at Valley Crest Nursing Home, Plains Township.
He was born in Ashley on May 8, 1911. He was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Michalczyk) Yedlowski. He lived most of his life on East Newport Street in the Newtown section of Hanover Township. He was employed by Glen Alden Coal Company, Ashley, and he then later worked as a cabinet maker and lastly was an estate caretaker. He was the former president of the Wilkes-Barre City Heights Tenants Association. He was a member of the Holy Rosary/St. Leo’s Church, Ashley/Hanover Township, where he was a charter member of the Holy Name Society.
He was proceeded in death by his wife of 70 years of marriage, the former Anna Gupko, who died Dec. 28, 2002; son, Eugene Yedlowski, who died in February 1986; a grandson, Judson Arlunas, who died August 1985; sister, Madeline Churlick; brothers, Walter and Isadore Yedlowski.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lois A. Arlunas, Wilkes-Barre; son and daughter in law, Joseph S. And MaryAnn Yedlowski, Newtown section of Hanover Township; six grandchildren; three great-grandsons; one great-great grandson; sister, Mrs. Joan Kovaleski, Vista, Calif.; Brother, Joseph Yedlowski, Freeport, Pa. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday at the George A. Strish Funeral Home, 105 North Main Street, Ashley, with a mass of Christian burial at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church, corner of Charles and Newport streets, Newtown section of Hanover Township. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call Monday from 6 to 9 p.m.
