Stella Falchek

Stella Falchek, 90, formerly of Winfield Park, N.J., passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2010, at the Cranford Health & Extended Care Center in Cranford, N.J. She was born in Wilkes-Barre on November 20, 1919, a daughter of the late Stanley and Catherine Lukasavage Delescavage. She was a graduate of Coughlin High School. Mrs. Falchek was employed for many years as a pharmacy administrator at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, later known as Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth, N.J. Stella was a member of St. John the Apostle Parish in Linden, N.J. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, in 1998. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward Delescavage; and by her sisters, Irene Farris, Betty Martin and Elizabeth Delescavage. Surviving are sons, Stephen S. Falchek Sr., Seaford, Del., and Mark Falchek and his wife, Judith, Columbus, N.J.; grandchildren, Stephen S. Falchek Jr., Jeanne Falchek, Lisa Shumard, Lynne Falchek and Laura Falchek; great-grandsons, Thomas Nickel Jr., and Logan Shumard; brothers, John Delescavage, Swoyersville, and Stanley Dell, Bridgeton, N.J.; sister Margaret Young, Shickshinny; as well as nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 9:30 a.m. in St. Aloysius Church, Barney and Division streets, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
