HANOVER TWP. — Theresa M. "Tee" Sokola, 90, a longtime resident of Hanover Township, passed into eternal life on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 4, 2017, at the Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas.
Her beloved husband was the late John Sokola, who passed away on Jan. 25, 2003. John and Tee were blessed to share nearly 53 years of marriage.
Born on Jan. 5, 1927, in Nanticoke, Theresa was one of four children born to the late Floyd and Constance (Andrukite) Kolodziejczak. Raised in Nanticoke, Tee was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, class of 1945.
Prior to her retirement in 2010, Tee was the owner and operator of Tee Sokola Monogramming, a business she operated from her home since 1958. A faithful Catholic, Tee was a member of Exaltation of the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Buttonwood. For many years, Tee was a volunteer at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Family was the greatest joy in Tee's life and she cherished every moment she had with her loved ones, most especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Floyd and Constance Kolodziejczak; and her husband, John, Tee was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward and Joseph Kolodziejczak.
Tee is survived by her sons, Thomas Sokola and his wife, Patty, of Hanover Township, and Frank Sokola and his wife, Donna, of Hanover Township; her grandchildren, Tara Sokola, Jessica Sokola, Kayla Sokola, Frank Sokola Jr. and Matthew Sokola and his wife, Charbi Ann (Webby) Sokola; her sister, Dorothy Kutz and her husband, Marty, of Mountain Top; as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend Tee's viewing which will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, in Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, 420 Main Road, Buttonwood section of Hanover Township. At the conclusion of the viewing, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by her pastor, the Rev. Kevin P. Mulhern. Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hanover Township. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C., 51-53 W. Green St., Nanticoke.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tee's memory to the American Heart Association, 968 Postal Road, Suite 110, Allentown, PA 18109.
