"Coach has called his final play"
DALLAS — Thomas Patrick Kilduff, 68, a resident of Dallas, passed away peacefully, just before sunrise, Sunday, May 17, 2015, at home surrounded by his family.
Born in Kingston on Nov. 10, 1946, he was a son of the late Jane Lambert Delaney and Thomas E. Kilduff.
He was preceded in death by his son, Raymond Lawrence Kilduff, and his uncle, Lawrence "Buddy" Lambert.
Thomas was a graduate of Kingston High School, Kingston, class of 1964. He received his bachelor's degree from East Stroudsburg State College, in 1968, followed by his master's degree, from the same institution.
He began his professional career in the Dallas School District where he taught health and physical education for over 30 years. Tom was especially passionate about coaching and throughout his time at Dallas was the head coach of multiple sports. All of his student athletes were important to him, and he held them near and dear to his heart. He always wished the best for his players and for them to achieve success in life.
The ability to impact our youth in a positive manner, and pass on principles that they could apply to lessons later in life, is what led him to teaching and coaching. Tom was a firm believer in structured education, a value passed down from his mother. He considered "knowledge to be a priceless power." So strong were these beliefs that he enrolled in a study at the University of Pennsylvania to help researchers come up with a cure for the disease that ended his life.
Tom was an avid storyteller and his tales became legendary around the Back Mountain community. He loved to socialize with his friends while holding court at Three Guys. It was important to Tom to help people laugh and see the lighter side to life. People often commented that his smile was infectious. Some of his familiar quotes were "Smile, it's Free," and "Don't sweat the small stuff, and everything's the small stuff."
Tom also competed in local and state level golf tournaments and enjoyed teaming up with friends and family to play. For several decades, he coveted a win at Irem Temple Country Club's Potentate Golf Tournament. The crowning moment occurred in 2001 when he joined forces with his son, Lynn, to win the championship. It was a victory that carried a lasting memory, which he shared with his son and family.
Our father gave to everyone, yet his true passion was the Love of family and most of all, his children and grandchildren. He offered soft hands, strong shoulders, caring eyes and high expectations. He taught us that loyalty is not an option, it is required. He believed actions speak louder than words, and it is our actions that create true impact.
Finally, friendship, we are who we associate with, this is what made our dad so great. He associated with everyone and taught us to never burn a bridge; you never know when you may need it to cross. He believed family and friends are what makes life worth living and most of all, never, I mean never, judge another, for it is impossible to walk in another's shoes.
He was a selfless caring man and his impact will be with us for generations to come. He is a legend. The symbol that represents our father is the Claddagh; his tenants are love, loyalty and friendship. Whenever you see one, know that it is his Irish eyes smiling down on you.
He is survived by his children, Dr. Patrick Kilduff and his wife, Erin Burns Kilduff, Dallas, Jane Kilduff Molino and her husband, Michael Molino, Shavertown, Lynn Kilduff and his wife, Lynea Kilduff, Dallas; and five grandchildren, Rory Mullin, Brayden Kilduff, Andrew Kilduff, Eva Kilduff and Alyssa Molino; his partner, Earlene Fernandes; her children, Danita, Dion and Darren; and her grandchildren, Skyla, Dacien, Failyn and Keenan.
The family wishes to thank Dr. John Carey who exceeded all expectations of a doctor and friend, you truly are a part of this family; you gave us light during our darkest days. Dr. Saidman, you helped him navigate through difficult waters. We appreciated your research, time and efforts in devising his treatment plan. He thought you were a real mensch. Also, thanks to Marianne Yannik and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for comforting us during this difficult time.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Prescription Assistance Fund at Medical Oncology Associates, Kingston; or take the time to teach a child a sport, preferably golf.

My sincere condolences to Coach Kilduff's family. Over the years I've thought of him often...a terrific coach with a heart for his players. I still think of him every time I hear "We Are The Champions" by Queen. He always required hard work, but made us feel special, too, and played this song just for us. May he rest in peace.

Lynn,
Your dad was a special guy. He was that interesting type person who had strong opinions, yet had the wisdom to manage his discretion on when to express those opinions. A winning trait...for sure!!
He had guts, class and brains.
My family and I are truly sorry for your loss.

Our sincerest sympathies on the passing of Mr. Kilduff. As a golf coach, he gave our son his start. As a mentor, he gave our son confidence. As a teacher, our son learned patience, perseverance, and that the sport of golf can impact ones life in many ways. Tom was the first golf teacher for me and my brother Caleb - back in 1974 at Dallas High School. He was patient and kind. My brother went on to become a scratch golfer - and it started with Tom's instruction. I live in NYC now - my brother lives in Texas, but we will always have fond memories of our experience as Tom's students. - Adam Greissman

So sorry for your loss. My son Michael married Jane Elizabeth and her beautiful family. Unfortunately I've only met Mr. Kilduff once.
However I have never seen my son Michael so happy in the years he has been with Jane. She supports him, she loves him, stands beside him in all his endeavors that life has given him. But I feel not only is she a remarkable woman, her love for her family is so deep and that enriches my son's life also. She was brought up with such beautiful morals and wise thinking that I know in my heart she has been given the gift from her Father to be the woman she is. I've heard beautiful stories from Jane about her family and her special relationship with her Grandmother and Father and Mother. I love looking through her pictures that now include my son, and am so happy that God has chosen Jane to be my son's wife.
Michael and Jane I am so sorry for the passing of Mr. Kilduff I have felt his presence in the way you two are living your life. God Bless both of you and I pray that the beautiful memories of Tom Kilduff's life will stay with you forever and your tears will turn to smiles down the road as you look at your photos and remember the beautiful memories that he has given you. I am so blessed that Jane has come into our lives as well I couldn't ask for a better daughter-in-law. God Bless your family.

When I first met Tom I knew we were going to be friends. Little did I know that we were going to be partners in crime. If I asked for a favor, he would not even blink an eye. Being a coach and teacher myself, I went to him for advise many times. Tom never let me down and I am a better person today because of him. He was my Irish goomba. I am going to miss the hell out of him. (or in his case heaven) Mike Hagan
