DUPONT — Vincent "Chucky" Bryk, 81, of Dupont, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township. Born in Dupont, he was the son of the late Frank and Sophie Bryk.
Vince graduated from Dupont High School. Upon graduation, Vince enlisted in the United States Army and was assigned to the military police in Germany, were he spent four years. Upon discharge from the U.S. Army, Vince attended Technical School and received training as a machinist. Vince and his brother, Walter, went into business together and became co-founders of Dupont Tool & Machine Company, in the borough of Dupont. The company recently celebrated their 50 years in business in the tool and die industry.
Vince was an avid sportsman and was a member of the Shiney Mountain Rod, Gun Club and Elm Street Sportsman Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in Canada and the state of Wyoming and Pennsylvania. He was also a member of the Polish American Citizens Club and served as councilman in the borough of Dupont. He was an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Dupont, and enjoyed making potato pancakes at the Annual Church Bazaar.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, John, Richard, Joseph; and his grandson, Jonathan Lombardo.
Vince was married to the former Bernadine Kuna, and they recently had celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. Vince is also survived by his children, Marlene Bryk, of Dupont, Bernard and daughter-in-law, Joann, of Dupont, Christine Bryk Lombardo, of Pittston Township, and Mary Ann and son-in-law, Gary Vogue, of Pittston Township. He is also survived by a brother, Walter Bryk, of Dupont. Vince was a loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Nicole, Patrick Jr., Christopher, Marissa, Kayla, Krista and Joshua; and great-granddaughter, Khloe Sophia; also survived by his sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Lackawanna Avenue, Dupont, with Father Thomas Petro and Fr. Joseph Verespy officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016. Interment will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery. AMVETS Honor Guard will provide military honors.
