Jim Gallagher

January 24, 2011

I am his nephew Jim in California. I enjoyed Uncle Bill's company when he would come to visit with the family as I was growing up in NY and later when we moved to California. He was full of life, had a sharp wit, and was very intelligent. He and his brother, (my father Jim, who passed away in 1996,) were close. You could see this closeness each time they got together, chatted, told jokes, and laughed. I had the opportunity to visit with Bill and Marie and cousin Michael and family twice in the past few years and could see that in spite of illness, Bill and Marie were full of life and love. He always set a good example for all of us to not give up even when the obstacles are great. Bill loved life and and we should all remember:

"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal,
Love leaves a memory no one can steal."

From a headstone in Ireland

Rest in eternal peace Uncle.
