Yolanda D’Alfonso Obituary

Yolanda D’Alfonso, 87, formerly of Broomall, Pa., quietly passed into eternal life Sunday, December 9, 2007, at Davis Manor, Mountain Top.
Born Yolanda Zanfrisco, on September 14, 1920, in Naples, Italy, she was a survivor of a German internment camp during World War II.
Mrs. D’Alfonso immigrated to the United States on June 21, 1947, aboard the Marine Perch and became an American citizen in March 1955.
She married Albert D’Alfonso on September 18, 1949, and together they raised two sons and a daughter.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt who doted on her family, who were the focus of her affections and center of her life.
Following a series of illnesses she moved to Mountain Top in 2001 to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and John Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; sister Flora; brothers Gennaro and Salvatore (Rino) Zanfrisco.
She is survived by her sons, Robert, of Lansdale, Pa., and Mario, of Marlton, N.J.; daughter Lisa and her husband, John Thompson, of Mountain Top; brothers and sisters-in-law John and Celeste Zanfrisco, of West Grove, Pa., Giuseppe (Peppino) and Anna Zanfrisco, of Civitavecchia, Italy, and Lucia Zanfrisco, of Reggio Emilia, Italy; four grandchildren, Robert, Mark, Nicole and Mario; one great-grandchild, Dominic; 29 nieces and nephews in the United States and Italy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Pius X. Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, Pa. Friends may call on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. from the D’Anjolell Memorial Homes, 2811 W. Chester Pike, Broomall, Pa.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 63 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA, 18701.
