Richard Harris Obituary

Richard Albert "Rick" Harris II, age 59, passed away on July 13, 2025, in Descanso, California. Born on September 8, 1965, in La Mesa, California, Rick lived a life full of energy, generosity, and hands-on passion.

Rick was a man who found joy in motion-whether it was riding dirt bikes through rugged trails, cruising in dune buggies across open terrain, or skimming the water in one of his beloved boats. Anything with a motor sparked his spirit. He had an innate talent for mechanics and construction; he could fix anything and took great pride in rebuilding both cars and houses. His hands were always busy creating or restoring something meaningful.

Flying his drone became another favorite pastime in recent years-a modern extension of his lifelong love for exploration and adventure. Whether on land or in the air, Rick embraced every opportunity to experience life from a new perspective.

Those who knew Rick often spoke of his enormous heart and boundless generosity. He was someone who would give without hesitation and help without being asked. His warmth left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

Rick cherished time spent with his daughter, Stephanie "Stevie" Preston, and found immense joy in being a grandfather to Savanah Rose, Jackson Andrew, and Penelope Jade. His family was central to his world, and he shared with them not only his skills but also his zest for life.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Christine Harris, and his sister, Roseanne Wood-both of whom held special places in his heart.

Rick also enjoyed relaxing moments at Viejas Casino with an occasional Jack and Coke in hand-a small pleasure that brought him peace amid life's adventures.

May the memory of Richard Albert "Rick" Harris II bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a reminder of a life lived fully and generously.

Rick and I shared a love of shooting pool and horse shoes. We both built pits in our yards to practice and compete.
