Dwane and I met working at the Marriott. Same age and in our early 20's. We quickly learned that we both loved fishing, beer, and laughing (and we joyfully did a lot of them all), and then we were bonded. I will remember Dwane as grumpy (in a good way), and fun as all-get-out...and at the same time. Funnier than he was grumpy. Even funnier through his grumpiness. He was a tough dude with a heart of gold inside. Dwane was very caring and would absolutely give you the shirt off his back. Very smart and very quick-witted. Dwane was also a very hard worker. A good man. All of those reasons and more are why I was his friend, and I think he had seen a lot of the same in me... and that's why he was my friend.

He was my best friend throughout the years at the Marriott. Then we both got jobs together at OK Grocery... and our friendship carried on through the years there.

We started losing touch when I left O.K. Grocery, but like clockwork, we would get together for a day just about every 5 or 6 years. I looked at it like a "touch-base" to see how we've been. Well...it was about that time again, and when I went looking for him, I found this saddening news and my heart dropped. My buddy has gone on. I am going to miss my bud.

Rest in peace my old friend.

I knew Dewey as Dwane at Highland School from 1977 to 1979 and at the High School from 1985 to 1988. He, Eddie Altenberg, and I were a trio at Highland. Nice kid and really fun to be around. So long Dewey.
