Leggett, Jr.
84 of 217 E. 13th St. rear Dover, died Monday May 2, 2011 at 2:25 a.m. in Hennis Care Centre at Dover after a brief illness. Born Dec. 29, 1926 in Dover he was a son of the late Austin D. and Clare (Hicks) Leggett, Sr. He was a retired bricklayer then drove school bus for Dover City Schools for 11 years. He was Baptist by faith and was an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, the former Opal Stein whom he married Aug. 3, 1946. Also surviving is a son, Ronald Leggett of Dover; three grandchildren, Tracy Padro, Crystal Simms and Bruce Leggett, Jr.; three sisters, Ruth Bory of Dover, Marjorie Davis of Pioneer, Ohio and Rose Keener of Dover. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Leggett; a sister, Leotta Carns; and two brothers, Thomas Leggett and Edward Bridgeman.
Graveside services will be held Friday, May 6, 2001 at 2 p.m. in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover. Rev. Andy McClung will officiate and the Dover V.F.W. will conduct military graveside honors. Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek is handling the arrangements. For those unable to attend please visit the funeral home's web site to share a memory and sign the guest register.
