Dan Yoder Obituary

Dan D. Yoder, 87, of 807 Smokey Lane Rd. NW, Sugarcreek, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at 10:45 p.m. in his residence after an extended illness.
Born Jan. 10, 1921, in Holmes County, he was a son of the late Dan J. and Barbara (Miller) Yoder. He was a retired farmer and was also employed for 10 years at the Dutch Valley Restaurant at Sugarcreek. He was also a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
He is survived by his wife, the former Esther Troyer, whom he married Dec. 16, 1943. Also surviving are his children, Sarah (Ray) Schlabach of Sugarcreek, Elsie (Onley) Heath of Sugarcreek, Vernon (Karen) Yoder of Orrville, Marvin (Rebecca Ann) Yoder of Sugarcreek, Susie (Bill) Yoder of Sugarcreek, Viola (Roy) Miller of Dover and Wayne (Grace) Yoder of Sugarcreek; 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and a brother, Eli D. Yoder of Millersburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Noah, Jacob and Neal Yoder; two sisters, Mary Yoder and Susan Miller; and a granddaughter, Angela Marie.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at 9 a.m. in the Daniel Troyer residence at 788 Smokey Lane Rd. SW, Sugarcreek. Bishop Clarence Yoder will officiate, and burial will follow in Troyer Cemetery in Sugarcreek Township, Tuscarawas County. Friends and family may call anytime at the Daniel Troyer residence. Smith-Varns Funeral Home at Sugarcreek is handling the arrangements.
