DARRELL DAVIS Obituary

Darrell "Pepe" Edward Davis II

67, of Barnesville, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018, at Barnesville Hospital. Darrell was born on August 25, 1950 in Dover, Ohio, to the late Darrell E. and Thelma (DeGenova) Davis. Darrell was a member of the Barnesville Assumption Church; a 1968 graduate of Dover High School where he was a member of the 1967 undefeated football season; and a graduate of Dakota State College in Madison, South Dakota. In 2008, Darrell retired from Barnesville High School after 35 years where he was a teacher and coach. He coached wrestling, girls track, and coached football for 34 years at Barnesville High School and two years at Buckeye Trail High School. In 1984, he led his wrestling team to the state title and in 2004, led the girls track team to a state runner-up title. In 2014, he was named Mr. Mat through the OVAC. He was active in planning his 50th class reunion, a member of the BPOE 1699 and the Barnesville 200 Club. He loved spending time with his family, enjoyed cooking, was an avid golfer, and loved to coach. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his niece, Lori Kieffer; and faithful companion, Princess Amelia Rose "Emmy".

Darrell is survived by his son, Bryce (Angie) Davis of Cambridge; daughter, Ammie (Darrin) Carpenter of Barnesville; three grandchildren: Brooke Kristine Davis, Jacob Lee Carpenter and Kirkland Charles Davis; loving companion, Kendra Powell of Barnesville; siblings: Charles (Marilyn) Davis of Dover, Jovan (Lars) King of New Philadelphia and Becky Ann Davis of Dover; several nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Debra Joan Davis of Barnesville.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 2-8 p.m. at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Assumption of the B.V.M. Catholic Church, 306 West Main Street, Barnesville, Ohio, with Fr. Dave Cornett officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery in Barnesville, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made in Darrell's name to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
