Hester Windsor Obituary

Hester M. Windsor, age 87, of 4245 State Rt. 212 NE, Mineral City, O., (New Cumberland), died late Monday afternoon, March 2, 2009, in Union Hospital at Dover after a long illness.
She was born May 25, 1921, in Vansburg, Ky., and was the daughter of the late William Amazar and Nancy Jane Evans Neal. In addition to her parents and husband, Earl J. Windsor, who died Nov. 25, 1975, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Chester Neal; and brothers, James, John and Robert Neal; and one grandson, Thomas Latimer.
A homemaker for most of her life, she had attended the Maranatha Church at Somerdale. Hester kept her hands busy by crocheting, and she enjoyed playing guitar. She actually wrote many songs, and according to her family, she was "always singing." Hester also was an avid reader and was partial to western novels.
She is survived by her four children, William (Janet) Windsor of Hardy, Va., Sharon Windsor of Roanoke, Va., Mrs. Jim (Shirley) Latimer and Russell Windsor both of New Cumberland; and a sister, Neva Anderson of Chillicothe, O. Eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren complete the family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2009, in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Pastor Ted Knapp officiating. Interment will follow in the New Cumberland Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. in the funeral home. To send an online condolence, please visit the funeral home's Web site.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Warren Township Community Center, c/o Mrs. Portia King, 8213 Lake Dr. NE, Mineral City, O. 44656.
