Mary A. Hummel
Age 92, of Berlin, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 21, 2010 at Walnut Hills Nursing Home, Walnut Creek, Ohio following an extended illness. She was born Aug. 2, 1918 in Millersburg, Ohio and was the daughter of Lincoln and Ida (Miller) Yoder. On Mar. 26, 1938, she married Paul Hummel and he preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1990. She was a graduate of Millersburg High School. She was co-founder of Hummel Ins. in Berlin. Mary was a pastors wife for 26 years and was a member of the Berlin Mennonite Church.
Surviving are two sons and their spouses, Bruce and Anna Hummel of Berlin, Ohio and Barry and Brenda Hummel of Berlin, Ohio; a daughter and her husband, Brenda and Ralph King of Walnut Creek, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Karen Hummel of Millersburg, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Geneva Mullet of Berlin, Ohio, Vera Boyd of Millersburg, Ohio, Gladys Mast of Berlin, Ohio, Mabel Rottman of Wooster, Ohio, Betty Ebersole of Sarasota, Fla. and Judy Stutzman of Berlin, Ohio; one brother, Carl Yoder of Berlin, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a son, Brian Hummel, an infant son, two granddaughters, and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Berlin Mennonite Church with Pastors Ernie Hershberger and Beau Hummel officiating. A private burial will be at the Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Ohio. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Berlin Mennonite Church or to Hospice of Holmes County.
