Mary Hyde Obituary
Born May 20, 1916, in Rush Township, Mary was the daughter of the late Henry and Lura (Lafferty) Jones.
Mary graduated from Uhrichsville High School in 1934. She was a lifelong member of the Lima Presbyterian Church before its closing and a lifelong resident of the Stillwater and Tippecanoe area. Before her retirement in 1980, Mary was employed for 17 years at Eastport Avenue Elementary at Uhrichsville in the Claymont School District.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Hyde, who died on June 23, 1974, and five brothers and two sisters.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Virginia L. (Larry) Malterer of Uhrichsville, and Grace A. (Louis) Carl of Dover, O.; two grandsons, Jeffery (Penny) Malterer of Uhrichsville, and Timothy (Jill) Hodge of Florida and four great-grandchildren, Sarah Malterer and Ian Malterer, both of Uhrichsville, Mary Hodge and Patrick Hodge of Florida and one special niece, Ellen Kay Swaney.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 4, 2010, (today) at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover, with Rev. Carolyn Behrendt officiating.
No calling hours will be observed.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Mary was a friend of my Grandma, Charlotte Brainerd. She was a very nice lady. After I grew up, had kids of my own and my Grandma had passed away; on our trips to Ohio - the kids and I would always stop in to see Mary. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

I just learnied of the pasing of Mary Hyde "via" the T-R on-line edition and wanted to convey my sincere sympathy to her family and friends.
I was the Principal at Eastport Elementary School in Uhrichsville from 1972-76. Mary was a dedicated employee in the cafeteria. She loved her job and deeply enjoyed interacting with the students. She took great pride in providing quality meals and a friendly smile to all the students who passed through the halls of Eastport.
My days at Eastport Elementary were some of the most rewarding years of my 35-year career in public education - - - because of caring and dedicated people like Mary Hyde. May all of her family, relatives, and friends find comfort in knowing that she and Walter are together again.
