Marycarol Fabian Pretorius

died on June 24th, 2021. She was born Dec. 23, 1932, to Arthur and Miriam (Heestand) Fabian at North Manchester, Ind. She married Walter F. Pretorius, Junior on June 12, 1954. Marycarol graduated from Vandalia-Butler High School in 1950 and attended Wittenberg College for two years. She transferred to the Ohio State University where she met her husband. She graduated with a major in business; her first job was as a social worker in the Columbus Tuberculosis Hospital. After working as a high school librarian for many years in the Dayton Public Schools, she liked the challenge of further studies and went nights to Wright State University for a Master's in education. She enjoyed being a mother, appreciated her job as a school librarian-which she did for 30 years, and was grateful for other teaching opportunities in Sunday School and small groups. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the central focus of her life, sustained her throughout her life, and brought her peace and joy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter in 1967; her daughter, Sharon in 1973; and her son, Brian in 2007. She is survived by her children, Douglas (Carol) Pretorius, Richard (Debbie) Pretorius, Marybeth (Gary) Haneline, David (Janet) Pretorius, and daughter-in-love, Diana (Jim) Pretorius Smith. She is also survived by her siblings, John (Ruth) Fabian, Arlene Harder, and Arthur (Louise) Fabian, Junior. She is survived by 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, West Carrollton. Her funeral was held at the church on June 29th. The YouTube video can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTkbJWSzAOQ. The inurnment will be at Dover Burial Park, 5651 N Wooster Ave, Dover, Ohio, on Thursday, July 8 at 3:00 pm.
