Richard Armstrong Obituary

Richard E. "Dick" Armstrong, 61, of Dennison passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Twin City Hospital in Dennison. Born April 19, 1948, at Dennison, he was a son of the late Theodore "Ted" Armstrong Sr. and Loretta Belle (Jones) Armstrong. A life resident of our area, Dick was a 1966 Claymont High School graduate.
Dick was a member of the Uhrichsville First Moravian Church, a Past Exalted Ruler of the Uhrichsville Elks Lodge No. 424, a member of the American Italian Club, and the Akron-Canton chapter of the Transplant Recipients International Organization. Throughout the past several years, Dick was very grateful for the wonderful care that he received from both the Cleveland Clinic and Twin City Hospital.
Dick was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and his greatest joy was vacationing with and spending time with his family. As an animal lover, Dick loved adopting strays, watching the deer that would visit his yard daily, and will be missed by his cat Butterscotch.
Dick was an enthusiastic fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Browns. Dick worked for many years at the former Associated Grocers in Dennison until its closing, and then he was employed by Gradall until his retirement in 2005. In his younger years, Dick had been a Uhrichsville Volunteer Fireman.
Surviving Dick are his wife of over 40 years, Cristie (Lint) of their home, to whom he was married on Aug. 7, 1968; daughter Molly and husband Jeff Olson of Bath, O.; grandsons Spencer, Zack and Logan Olson; sisters Nancy Arm-strong of Uhrichsville and Carolyn and husband Dave Birker of Gnadenhutten; aunts Louise Lint of Dennison and Thelma Armstrong of Uhrichsville; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his brother, Theodore "Ted" Armstrong Jr., and his mother and father-in-law, Mary and Checkers Lint.
Visiting hours for Dick will be held Sunday, May 10, 2009, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison, with Elks services to be held at 7:45 p.m. A funeral service for Dick, officiated by Rev. William Surber, will be held Monday, May 11, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with interment to follow at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Dick's memory are encouraged to do so to either Twin City Hospital or Uhrichsville First Moravian Church.

Hi Cristi and family,

So sorry to hear about Dick. He was a wonderful man. I really appreciated that you folks came to visit my mom and I when we were staying in Rocky River after her lung transplant. You were both incredibly supportive to her.

I will always remember the care package for us and the wonderful chocolate cheesecake "treats" from Max's Deli when you came for lunch. What a treat! We were discussing our chocolate "addictions". It was fun to hear about how he enjoyed the Cleveland Caveliers, his cat and his chocolate!

You folks are wonderful people. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you work through the grief of losing this wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Wish I could be there to support you, but know that my mom and our family are supporting you from afar. God bless and take care, Lori
