Joan Marie Cook Cothern, 77, of Gibson City, Illinois formerly of LeRoy, Illinois passed away at 8:41 A.M. Tuesday, February, 14, 2017 at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City, Illinois
Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy, Illinois with Dave Sobkoviak officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, LeRoy, Illinois. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the funeral home. Memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Joan was born October 21, 1939 at Onarga, Illinois, a daughter of Alerich J. & Pearl M. Randolph Beckman. She married George A. Cook Sr. April 12, 1958 in Titusville, Florida. He passed away January 30, 1996. She later married Glenn V. Cothern October 23, 1999 in Gibson City, Illinois.
She is survived by: Husband, Glenn V. Cothern of Gibson City, IL; Children, George ""Butch"" Cook Jr. of LeRoy,IL;  Lisa (Rusty) Wright of Ten Mile, TN;  Kelly Duby of Normal, IL; Pamela Fulk of LeRoy, IL;  Katrina (Earl) Nalley of LeRoy, IL;  Rhonda (Phillip) Bachman of Heyworth, IL; Step  Children, Daniel Cothern of Plainfield, IL;  Kelly Fermazin of Warrenville, IL;  Georgia (Tony) Souspriskis of LeRoy, IL;  Dixie Weinheimer of LeRoy, IL; 26 Grandchildren, 27 Great-grandchildren; Sister, Eleanore Taden of Watseka, IL
Preceded in death by her parents, brother, grandson, Joseph Nechkash, daughter-in-law Jean Cook, son-in-law Don Duby.
Joan received her Associates Degree in Business. Joan co-owned CF & H Construction with her late husband, George Cook Sr.. She had worked at the Apartment Mart in Bloomington, IL and retired from the accounting department at ISU in 2001. She was a member of the Junior Women's Club, LeRoy, IL and member of the Gibson City Lions Club. Joan loved her family, gardening, playing cards, bowling and traveling.

I am so sorry for your loss. And especially to Glenn, who was the best athlete that played against Watseka in the 1962-63seasons. I remember chasing you on a kickoff return and Tom Schlickman wrecking our defense. Then I had to chase you the Conference 880. I have nothing but good memories of Gibson City because of people like you.
