Craig Dolan Obituary

Craig Dolan 1950 - 2016
WAKEFIELD, RI - Craig Dolan, 65, passed away at home on February 15th, 2016, after a long valiant battle with cancer.
Born in Herkimer, NY, Craig was the son of Frank Dolan and was predeceased by his mother, Shirley, in 1999. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his dad, Frank and his wife, Betty; his daughter, Alexis; his son, Todd Kirton and his wife, Mary; his five grandchildren, Ryan, Brighid, Julia, Luke and Lily Kirton; and his brother, Dennis and his wife, Lori, and their two children, Jennifer and Joel.
Craig attended Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute from 1968 - 1972 and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. He then served in the U.S. Navy from 1972 - 1976 and was assigned to an ammunition ship while in Vietnam. Craig then went on to practice his career as a civil/environmental engineer, both in the public and private sector, focusing on producing fertilizer from biosolids (waste water sludge) and employing biosolids to energy proprietary technology.
Craig was curious about the world around him and never stopped learning. He loved family, friends, golf, and driving anywhere, preferably on the back roads. He enjoyed horse racing and any good bet, and was generous to a fault. Craig was larger than life, a one-of-a-kind man, and he was dearly loved and respected by all his family and many friends and will remain in their hearts and minds always.
The funeral will be held Monday, February 22nd, from the Avery-Storti Funeral Home in Wakefield, Rhode Island. There are visiting hours from 9:00 - 10:30 AM followed by a service at The Church of the Ascension.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following: Office of Development, Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.

Along with his dedication and acumen, Craig brought a lot of laughs and good-natured kidding to our work for the City of Holyoke in the early 80's. His only failure that I know of was in teaching me how to golf. He was one of those friends you wish you could have stayed in touch with always. Paths diverge but Craig was the kind of person who makes you glad you knew him along the way. My sincere condolences to Linda and all of Craig's family.

To the Dolan families,
I was so sorry to learn of Craig's passing. Praying for your peace and comfort during this difficult time. I remember fondly what a nice personality he had as I stood up with him in Lori and Dennis' wedding. May he rest in eternal peace and may perpetual light shine upon him.

Craig was my boss for 3 years and many people have called me all week to express their sympathy. I say to them, "be happy for me, that I got the chance to meet Craig and come to know what a great, kind and loving man he was." May he find peace now. He will be in my prayers.
