Jeanne M. Barley 1947 - 2017
GRANT - Jeanne M. Barley, 69, of Stormy Hill Road, went to be with the Lord on April 23, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica.
Jeanne was born on August 11, 1947, in Ilion, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Elsie (Perry) Barley. She graduated from Poland Central School, in 1965, and first worked at National Cash Register, formerly of Utica. Jeanne also held jobs at the former Grant Hotel, Poland Central School and NYS Food Service. Since 1986 until present, she served as Town of Russia Clerk and Registrar of Vital Statistics. In addition, she was Court Clerk, for many years, and achieved the title of Registered Municipal Clerk. Jeanne was a member of the Herkimer County and NYS Town Clerks Associations. She served as a District Director for five terms and was awarded "Clerk of the Year" in 2008.
From an early age, she was a member and enjoyed singing in the choir at the former St. Ann's Catholic Church, in Hinckley, and more recently, the Parish Community of St. Leo and St. Ann, Holland Patent. Jeanne was also a member of Adirondack Unit #1118 American Legion Auxiliary.
Jeanne loved taking pictures, cooking, family gatherings, her many friends and her pool. She also enjoyed fishing and times spent on Hinckley Lake.
Survivors include her companion and best friend of thirty years, James Eaton, of Grant; her three children, Robert Youker, of Antioch, CA, Stacy (Tom) Yost, of Poland, and Colleen (Tom) Farr, of Marcy; her sister, Catherine (Harley) Campbell, of Oriskany; her brother, Frank (Denise) Barley, of Cold Brook; eight grandchildren, Nicholas and Taylor Youker, Xavier Yost, Jessica Coddington, Cpl. Joshua Farr, USMC, Christy Gay, Thomas, Jr. and Jessica Yost; and one great-granddaughter, Savannah Williams. Like her own children, she loved her niece, Elizabeth (Robert) Heinlein, and their children, Matthew, Katie and Olivia; and her two nephews, Joseph Tabor, and his children, Brandis and Tyler and William (Michelle) Tabor, and their children, Kyle, Dalton and Mickenzie. She also leaves Jim's children, Arlene Eaton, James Eaton, Jr. and Sherri Wilsey; and a dear friend, George Baker, of Hampton, VA.
A Memorial Service will be held at Community Baptist Church, Poland, on Tuesday, May 2nd, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Mark Sellers officiating. Private inurnment will take place in St. Ann's Cemetery, Hinckley. Calling hours at the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport, are Monday, May 1st from 4 to 7 p.m.
