Marilyn Collin Obituary

Marilyn G. Collin 1933 - 2018
HERKIMER - Marilyn G. Collin, 84, formerly of State Route 28, passed peacefully on March 1, 2018, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, where she had been a resident since July of 2013.
Mrs. Collin was born on May 18, 1933, in Springfield, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Howard and Magdaline (McCormick) Griggs. She graduated from Penn Yan Academy, in 1952, with recognition for her artistic talents. She worked, as a receptionist, at Alcoa Aluminum before uniting in marriage with Frank C. Collin on September 1, 1954.
An energetic mother and homemaker, Marilyn took loving care of her husband and seven children through cooking, baking, sewing, gardening and canning. While running a busy household, she also found time to pursue her love of art by painting many beautiful watercolors. Marilyn enjoyed the many flowers around her home including tiger lilies, roses, peonies and irises. After raising their children, she was employed, as an assistant, at Lucarelli Physical Therapy, in New Hartford, from 1978 until retiring in 1996. Marilyn then enjoyed traveling to Paris, London, Spain and many places across the United States.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Robin) Collin, of Salem, OR, Diane (Dale) Loveland, Constance (Dean) Beck, of Barneveld, NY, Sandra Collin (David Revak), of York, PA, Mary (Dan) Gerlowski, of Ellicott City, MD and Richard (Andrea) Collin, of Denver, CO; one brother, Lance (Peg) Bowen, of Rochester, NY; seven grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, Nathanael Beck, Sarah Jo Bushinger, Anthony Coyne, Morganne Staring, Rachal Staring, Ashley Van Buren, Tyler Van Buren, Britney Loveland, Crystal Markley and Julie Markley; five great-grandchildren; nephew, Jay Sullivan, of San Diego, CA; and niece, Sarah Kate Felone, of Milton, MA. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, of 62 years, Frank; her daughter, Susan; and several siblings.
Her family would like to express gratitude to Marilyn's special caregivers, Betty Brown and Pam Benjamin, as well as the compassionate staff at Valley Health Services.
Calling hours at the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport and Graveside Service at Middleville Cemetery will take place in the spring and will be announced at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org), PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
