FORT PLAIN - Marjorie L. Rogers, 92, of Fort Plain, NY, passed away October 1, 2016, surrounded by her family.
Born October 2, 1924, in Fort Plain, NY, she was the daughter of the late Earl Cranker, Sr., and Evelyn Cranker.
Marjorie was a graduate of Crouse-Irving School of Nursing in Syracuse, NY. She started her career as a registered nurse at Cooperstown Hospital and retired from Little Falls Hospital as a supervising nurse after more than 40 years of service. Marjorie dedicated her career to taking care of others. She will be remembered as a selfless, caring and compassionate wife, mother and nurse who always had a smile even when times were tough. Her generous and loving heart touched many lives. Her family and friends will always be thankful for the gift that was her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles S. Rogers, Jr.; sister, Shirley Reddy; grandson, Samuel Matt, Jr.; and sister-in-law, Donna Cranker.
Survivors include her two daughters, Shelley (John) Murray and Cindy (Bill) Gardner; a brother, Earl "Butch" Cranker, Jr. (Penny Conrad); three grandchildren, Matthew Gardner, Meredith Matt and Jenna Gardner; two great-grandchildren, Max Gardner and Mollie Gardner; brother-in-law, Lou Reddy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Service of Remembrance will take place on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 1p.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. Calling hours will be held prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
A special thank you to the nursing staff at Ellis Hospital, Unit C1, for the excellent care they provided to one of their own.
