Shirley Oldfield Obituary

Mrs. Shirley A. (Critser) Oldfield 1939 - 2017
LITTLE FALLS - Mrs. Shirley A. (Critser) Oldfield, age 78, a lifelong Little Falls resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, December 3, 2017, at the Alpine Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Little Falls.
Born on July 1, 1939, Shirley was the daughter of the late James, Sr. and Adelia (Cordisi) Critser. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from Little Falls schools. On April 28, 1962, Shirley was wed to Mr. Charles A. "Chuck" Oldfield and together they shared over fifty-one years in a loving and devoted union. Mr. Oldfield passed away on June 24, 2013.
Shirley was a hardworking woman who was, at one time, employed with the Allegro Shoe Company and the Little Falls School District. The majority of her career, however, was spent as a Nurse's Aide at the former Van Allen Nursing Home, where she worked for almost twenty-eight years until her retirement.
Kind, friendly and caring by nature. Although small in stature, she had a big heart and loved people and animals alike. She will be dearly missed by her beloved children, grandchildren and family, which meant so very much to her.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Nichols, of Little Falls; her son, Charles Oldfield, Jr., of Herkimer; her grandchildren, Todd Nichols, Jr., Brianna and Adam Dembrow and Andruw Oldfield; sister, Cassie; many cousins, nieces and nephews, with special mention of her nephew, Robert Critser and her cherished niece, Robin Critser-Prinzhorn. She also leaves her brother, James Critser; sister-in-law, Lois Oldfield; and many dear friends.
Sincere gratitude is extended to the staff of the Alpine Rehab & Nursing Center for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Shirley throughout her stay there.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours for Shirley on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 (today) from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM at the original Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY (315) 823-2424. Shirley's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday morning, December 6, 2017, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, with Rev. Joseph Famulare, officiating. Spring interment will take place at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, where Shirley will be laid to rest beside her beloved, Charles.
For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions to the Activities Department at Alpine Rehab & Nursing Center, 755 E. Monroe St., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Funeral arrangements and supervision have been entrusted to the Oldfield family funeral directors, Harry and Kevin Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia.

Shirley was the sweetest. Always with a smile. Shirley was small in statute, but large in heart. I know she will be missed by her family.
