Adelaide Romano Obituary
TROY - Adelaide (Addie) Romano, 93, died peacefully Sunday, December 15, 2024. She was born on Christmas Day, 1930, in Troy, N.Y., to Joseph and Adelaide (Sheeran) Creech, where she lived until her passing. She was a proud graduate of Catholic Central High School, class of '48. She met her husband, Romolo Romano, at Manory's in Troy, where he worked as a "soda jerk." They married in 1952, and she set up housekeeping in Troy, while he served in the Army in Korea. In 1975, she opened her own business, Addie's Hallmark, in Troy, and was honored by Russel Sage as an independent business woman of distinction. She was predeceased by her husband, Romolo Romano; and her son, Robert Romano. She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Romano McCarthy; grandchildren, Sean (Amy) Looby, Matthew Looby, Meghan Straight, and Emily (Eric) Bergdoll; seven great-grandchildren, Jack, Quinn, Samantha, Aaron, Conor, Reese and Ryder; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Van Rensselaer Manor for their compassionate care while she was in residence. Family and friends are invited and may call from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with funeral Mass to follow at 12:15 p.m., on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Our Lady of Victory Church, 55 North Lake Ave., Troy. My sister, Tonita Berry and myself offer our sincere condolences on the passing of your Mother. Our Mother, Alice Hartnett adored Addie and considered her a dear and best friend. We lived on 9th St near Middleburgh and your mother was friends with my 3 late sisters that worked at the Telephone Company also. My brother was in the class of 1946 @ CCHS. I worked With Addie at NY tel in Troy...she and I ,were married the same year...kept in touch with her when she opened her card shop..such a great gal...everyone liked Addie ..
