Albert Bunk Memoriam

Bunk - Albert
In memory of Albert ("better than bad Al") Thomas Bunk, passed away on April 8, 2023, at the age of 96. He was born in Schaghticoke, N.Y., in a single-room farmhouse. He was the youngest of eight siblings. His parents, Thomas Bunk and Julia (Laby) Bunk, both immigrated from Poland. He was particularly proud of raising his six children and helping raise his 11 grandchildren. He took joy in making "green eggs and ham," apple pies, macaroni & cheese, and other treats for his grandchildren. He had multiple careers in his life and worked in the textile, railroad, and construction industries before launching his own advertising company, Sunset Advertising. He had a passion for walking and gardening and took pride in growing magnificent dahlias, gladiolas, and sunflowers. He loved animals and took great care of his grandchildren's many pets. He greatly enjoyed listening to Polka music, especially on Sunday mornings. He delighted in traveling to India, with his daughter and son-in-law and visited India nine times. His adventurous spirit also led him to Nepal, Austria, Switzerland, Myrtle Beach, Maryland, Rhode Island, and Virginia. He loved to spend time on Cape Cod and had a knack for filling buckets of clams from Cape Cod Bay just before dinner time. Al was a proud and devout Catholic. He was a source of wisdom and advice on all aspects of life. He will be remembered for colorful sayings and would love to greet you with "two good hands meet" and leave you with "have a better than bad day."
