Alice M. Vander Bogart

Vander Bogart, Alice M. STEPHENTOWN Alice M. Vander Bogart, 91 of South Road, died on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a brief illness. Born in Troy and a lifelong resident of the area, Alice was the daughter of the late Rudolf H. and Florence Bott Engwer and the devoted wife of the late Fred H. Vander Bogart. Her birthday was October 3, 1929. Alice worked a number of years for Garden Way in Troy where she was a seasonal sales associate. She wanted to be home for her flower and vegetable gardens and that was why she had a seasonal position. She enjoyed talking to some famous people looking to buy from Garden Way such as Roy Rogers. Alice was a member of the Stephentown Seniors and she and Fred did some traveling when they were younger. Alice was raised in the Zion UCC of Taborton and she attended the West Stephentown Baptist Church, the Stephentown Center Free Will Baptist, the Alps Baptist, the Grafton Baptist and most recently the Sand Lake Baptist. Alice was the sister of the late Henry A. and Raymond Engwer, Olive Gerstel and Eileen F. Jansson. Survivors include her children, Robert (Linda) Vander Bogart of Heartville, Mo., Cheryl (David) Walther of Stephentown, Paul (Regina) Vander Bogart of Mansfield, Mo. and Dale (Lisa) Vander Bogart of Poestenkill; her brother-in-law Wesley Jansson; 10 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 2 - 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 19, at the West Stephentown Baptist Church, 1672 NY 43, West Stephentown followed by a service at 3 p.m. Burial will follow the service in the Hillside Cemetery, West Stephentown.
