Delehanty, Andrew J.J.
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Andrew J.J. Delehanty, 76 of Washington, D.C., entered into eternal life on July 29, 2023, at Regency Care Rehabilitation Center in Silver Spring, Md.
Born on October 10, 1946, in Albany, he was the son of the late Andrew J. Delehanty and the late Virginia Walsh Delehanty. He attended St. Catherine of Siena Elementary School and was a 1965 graduate of Cardinal McCloskey High School.
After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, being honorably discharged in 1969. He received his accounting degree from New York University and then his C.P.A. certification, practicing for several years before entering Georgetown University, and receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 1982. He practiced law up to the time of his death.
He was an avid reader, a member of MENSA, and a student of history, especially enjoying anything related to Winston Churchill. While at N.Y.U., he represented the University on the G.E. College Bowl program, and was twice a contestant on "Jeopardy!" He was well-traveled, embarking on an around-the-world tour after law school.
He is survived by his sister, Faith Delehanty of Fairport, N.Y.; his brother, David (Anne) of Apex, N.C.; two nephews, David Delehanty (Carrie) of Versailles, Ky., and Robert Delehanty (Erin) of Apex, N.C.; and a niece, Kathleen Delehanty Bentley (John) of Apex, N.C., as well as several beloved great-nieces, nephews and many cousins.

Jay was my friend. We met at a laundromat in NYC and became instant friends. Lots of adventures and I nursed him through a few love affairs....and the best part was when he came to Colorado and stayed with my husband and me while he was on his world tour. R.I.P. Jay

Jay as my friend. We met at a laundromat in Manhattan and went through some adventures together and I was so happy to have him stay with us in Denver when he was on his world tour. Jay was a true gentleman and friend and I will always miss him. R.I.P. Jay

Faith,
So sorry to learn of Andrew's passing. He was such a fine and quiet gentleman. Perhaps a shyness hidden beneath a caring heart. I pray his soul rest in peace with God Eternal. Happy memories at St. Catherine of Siena.

Needless to say, Drew was exceptionally intelligent, but - like the rest of his wonderful family- he was very kind and thoughtful.

"A peace above all dignities,
A still and quiet conscience".

Condolences on his passing.
