Holt, Annie ALBANY Annie Holt, 78 of Albany, earned her wings and ascended peacefully at home on Monday, April 25, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Annie Alvera Holt was born on June 7, 1943, in Rocky Mount, N.C. to the late Mamie Holt and William Boone. Annie was educated in the Albany City School District and graduated from the Adult Learning Center. She worked for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance until her retirement. Annie was the longest sitting poll inspector for the Albany County Democratic Committee Fifth Ward, Election District 1. Annie was a poll inspector at Grace and Holy Innocents Church for over 40 years. She was loving, strong and had a huge personality that left an impact on everyone she met. In her spare time, Annie enjoyed Bingo, taking bus trips to the casino, OTB and playing cards with her special friends. Annie leaves to cherish her memory with her four children, Minister Justice Barnes (Iniah) of Charlotte, N.C., Reginald Barnes(Sonya) of Albany, Regina Barnes Hudson of Charlotte, N.C., and Damon Holt of Charlotte, N.C.; her grandchildren, Elvirquan Barnes, Laquinta Barnes, Damon Barnes, Gabredhan Hudson, Kiya Hudson, Damon Holt Jr., Chania Holt, Amir Holt, Brianne Holt, Deidra Holt, Reginald Barnes Jr. Kymla Barnes, Alana Barnes and Egypt Barnes; and 13 great-grandchildren. Annie also leaves to cherish her memory her special friends, Essie Gruce, Gladys VanDyke Francis Johnson, and (Ernest) Chris Brown; and a host of adopted sisters, brothers, cousins, relatives and friends. Annie was predeceased by her parents, Mamie Holt and William Boone; her sister, Phyllis Holt; her granddaughter, Tiresha Barnes; and grandson, Khalil Barnes. Annie was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all. Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet on Friday, April 29, from 4 to 6 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 6 p.m. A graveside service will take place on Monday, May 2, at 11 a.m. in the Albany Rural Cemetery, 3 Cemetery Ave, Albany.
